Why revise e-mail?

E-mail is “the best and the worst thing” to paraphrase a well-known philosopher.
Millions of useless e-mails saturate mailboxes, and drown the essential under a bunch of details. Employee productivity is hampered by excess and ineffective e-mails.
The problem comes because e-mail is easy to use and popular. Originally created to be an efficiency and sharing tool, email has become, at best simply accelerated mail, at worst a sheer nuisance.
